Jessica Simpson, who recently crossed over to country music, didn’t exactly win over country fans the way she drew in hordes of votes in the poll of celebrities with the best bumpers.

Opening for Sara Evans, Simpson found herself the subject of jeers and catcalls at a weekend concert held in Wisconsin.

Simpson berated told the hooting crowd, "I don't know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I'm just a girl from Texas."

She added, "I'm just like you. I'm doing what I love and dating a boy."

During her set, she dedicated the track You're My Sunday to beau Tony Romo, who was seated in the audience. She also performed Willie Nelson's On the Road Again and her new single Come On Over from her album set to hit stores in September.

Despite the lukewarm reception of her arrival in the country music scene, her father/manager Joe Simpson said she’s “ready for country.”

The problem is that country doesn’t appear to be ready for her.
