It’s definitely Splitsville week.

Adding to couples who decided to give it a rest are Grindhouse actress Rose McGowan and the film’s director Robert Rodriguez. The two, who met while filming the said movie, got engaged last October.

Rodriguez was still very much married – and with 5 kids to boot – when he got on with McGowan.

The Daily News reports that the split had something to do with business stuff. It’s being claimed that the director was having problems finding funding for a remake of the 1968 Jane Fonda-starrer Barbarella, in which McGowan was supposed to star in, in addition to Red Sonja and Woman in Chains.

It was thought that McGowan, who’s best known for being a Charmed one and for dating goth rocker Marilyn Manson, didn’t have enough box-office clout for the $70 million remake, most especially after the disastrous results of Grindhouse.

Movie bosses supposedly wanted an actress with a bigger box-office draw to star as the sexy space adventuress Barbarella. A possible replacement has been named: Jessica Alba.

This just goes to show that the mixture of business and love will almost always have grave consequences.
