After the supermodel’s recent arrest for attacking police officers during a fracas on a British Airways plane, Mandela, who Campbell refers to as her ‘honorary grandfather,’ has reportedly banned her from his upcoming 90th birthday celebration.
According to the Daily Mail, Mandela felt “disappointed” with her apprehension, specifically because at that time she was wearing a baseball cap with Mandela’s prison number on it.
It turns out that Mandela and Campbell have been longtime pals and their history goes way back when Campbell hosted numerous events for 46664, Mandela’s number while he was imprisoned for almost 30 years. At present, the figures refer to his AIDS awareness movement.
Originally, the Brit was scheduled to play a significant role, but all plans were ditched when photos of Campbell being arrested sporting the cap with the all-important number on it surfaced.
A source privy to the event said that everyone hopes the incident may instill in Campbell some moral lessons since the Mandela event is extremely important to her.
It’s hardly believable that anything will ever teach the tempestuous model a lesson. But if there is anything that could, people say it just might be this.
Hats off to Mr. Mandela.
Here’s hoping he does the same for Amy Winehouse.
